Hello,
I am having a problem with my tivo and ant reception. I plug the ant into the tivo and it does not receiver the channel, if I plug it directly into the TV (it has a hd tuner built in) I get the channed, with interferance here and there (blockey picture and such). Is this a problem with the tivo or would you say that it is just bad reception. My ant is not that great, and I am looking at getting one that is meant to get hd tv. Any help would be great. Keith |

Sounds like bad reception. Could be your antenna just isn't pointed in the proper direction. And it could be just a lousy setup. In any case, there's no such thing as an antenna meant to get HDTV. The signals come over the same frequencies as analog. If you have a good antenna, it will work. The blocky picture is caused by signal loss more than likely, and more than likely is not the receiver. -- Want to control your HTPC. Tired of paying for guide data? I just got the hr10-250, it's off the air receiver is not as sensitive as my
HD TV's receiver. 1st directly, then using 1 antenna and a splitter feeding both, the TV will show a picture/blocky picture, while the TIVO on the same channel will have no picture. HD/Digital needs a good signal. Strong antenna, amplifier, and careful aiming is necessary. (location probably makes a big difference) After aiming my antenna and adjusting the amp for my weakest channel, other channels stopped coming in. Time of day (night/day) also affects the signal. fun times ahead... Gary K "Train" wrote in message . .. Hello, I am having a problem with my tivo and ant reception. I am using this setup with no problems. The Tivo can handle it. If you aren't getting signal it could be one or a combination of three things. 1. You are in a fringe area. I am within 15 miles of all signals. 2. Your antenna may not be good enough. I am using fringe area antennae. 3. Your antenna may not be aimed properly. I actually have two antennae because one channel is about 90 deg away from all the others. -- Robert B. The amateur DirecTech installers install the UHF/HDTV antenna at 90 degrees of how it should be aimed. It should point like an arrow to the direction of the station, not at right angles like a wing. |

I actually have two antennae because one channel is about 90 deg away from all the others. I had the same problem. I bought an HDTV indoor antenna (Thomson ANT537)to use as a test. It worked OK with the HDTV (fewer dropouts and re-synchs) than attached to the HR10-250. It appears that the HR10-250 tuner is less sensitive. My solution - I bought 2 Channel Master CM-4228 8 bay bowtie UHF antennas and installed them in my attic and used 2 diplexers and a combiner for the UHF antennas. I needed two antennas because the networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) broadcast on a tower at 135 degrees from our home and the PBS station broadcasts at 267 degrees. They work great! No dropouts The most important lesson I've learned in getting this HDTV is that it is becoming like a boat (with additional needs) - I need a new DVD Player, a wall mount and antennas. |

I have a Samsung TV, with builtin HDTV tuner, that receives local HD broadcasts. The Circuit City salesman sold me a Terk powered indoor antenna that has good reception on a couple of stations. I've moved it all around the second floor location, but get no reception improvement on the other 20 available channels. I've checked with the local satellite system installer, but he says he has not installed any outdoor antennas that mount on the dish, so he doesn't know how good their reception is. Since I have a tall house, I don't want to try to install a tall mast to get the antenna above the roof. I live about 15 - 20 miles from the transmitter of the main stations I want to watch. Can you give me any suggestions about what you recommend for a wall mount, or attic mount type antenna? Any info provided is appreciated. Keith The HD Tivo is not as sensetive as other HD tunners. I sounds like you need a better antenna, or raising it higher might help. If you are using a long run of coax and splitting it off to other TV's, a good pre-amp like the Channel Master 7777 might help. If you tell me what kind of antenna you are using and more of your situation, I might be able to help you more. Chris |

I am setup as follows, I am using a omnidirectrional ant, it runs directly
from outside to a junction box inside the house. It is then grounded and rerouted to a box next to the tv and directly to either the hr10-250 or the tv, i didn't want to split the signal at this point until I knew that I got good reception, but would like to later on.
