I have a Samsung LE26R51BDX and have figured out how to record digital
channels by selecting Ext.1 (which is the Scart connection) and watch the digital station I want to record on the TV while recording it. For the analogue channels, I record from it simply by selecting the channel number on the VCR. I'd like to find out if there's a way to tune both analogue and digital channels into the VCR so he can record a digital channel while watching another digital channel or an analogue channel. To do this, I suspect he might need 2 digital tuners/decoders in the TV. I don't know whether his model of TV has 2 of them or not. Can anyone help? Thanks, Petre |

Thanks ... Do you know how I can find out - whether the TV has 2
decoder, I mean? Or what's the most efficient way to find out? I can't seem to find an email address for Samsung UK. Thanks again, Petre/ John Porcella wrote: wrote in message oups.com... You could record an analogue channel using the VCR's internal tuner, and watch a different channel on the tv using the tv tuner. If you want to record a digital channel, and watch a different digital channel, buy a freeviw box, and dedicate it to the VCR. To record one digital channel and to watch another digital channel you need two digital tuners. It would be quite possible with one tuner if both channels were on the same mux (all channels come from only 6 muxes). Some DVRs can do this (topfield), but its not common, and I have't seen a TV capable of it (yet). -- Mike |

Thanks again, Petre/ AFAIK no TVs currently on the market have 2 digital tuners, the best thing you do is buy a cheap box, around £30 to use with your VCR. The Humax 26" and 32" LCD TV's have 2 tuners built into them - the 32" also has PVR functionality. D |

It has 2 digital tuners, can do Picture In Picture, but doesn't seem to support recording 2 channels at once. It might support watching another channel whilst recording one though. D |
