have you ever heard of cd? MP3?

or even tapes?

"Freddy" a écrit dans le message de news:

I for one cant wait for the receivers to go on sale, and I will gladly pay
the $15 a month to subscribe.
I commute nearly 2 1/2 hours a day round trip, and I take routes that take
me from near Guelph to Hamilton, so traffic reports every 5 minutes about
the 401 or Don Valley parkway or Islington and Bloor don't really interest
me.
I wake up to 680News, so I already know what happened while I was
sleeping, and don't need a recap every 30 minutes.
I have never been influenced by the commercials I hear, not having
purchased Sleep Country Matresses, AlarmForce Home Security Systems and do
not suffer from mental depression that I need to listen to former loser
heroin skanks whine about wrong coices they made in life but how CAMH
helped them.
I just want to listen to music, uninterrupted, for the nice leisurly drive
through the Halton Hills while go to and from work.
Satellite Radio is my salvation. Pop the unit in, tune to all jazz, and
thats it...no irritating DJ's talking about **** I don't care about, no
commercials, no traffic, weather and news updates, just music.
If it only lasts a year, which I doubt, it will be one year of bliss.

Some of you negative nellies who **** on everything because, well, thats
the type of ****turds you are, seem to forget that there are more people
outside Toronto and Ottawa.

There are millions and millions of people who live in places that do not
have access to the CN Tower, and can't pick up terrestial radio other than
maybe one or two FM stations that play songs none of us have ever heard
of. It's these same people who purchased ExpressVU and StarChoice systems
to get TV that wasn't available in their rural areas.
Now these same people will purchase satellite radio for their cars and
home, to listen to jazz, rock, classical and other music, NOT AVAILABLE
OUTSIDE TORONTO!! Get it??

Just once in your lives, take your head out of your ass and imagine how
someone else lives and thinks, and maybe you'll see that not only are
there other points of view, but that not everyone thinks in such a small
and limited scope.

Exactly right on Stern. I'd have paid $20 a month to Sirius Canada if they
were caryring Stern. But I knew they wouldn't, THEY knew all along they
wouldn't and I just went and got set up with the REAL Sirius so I can
continue to listen. Thanks CBC-you're ****ing your own success in the ass
because you don't want Stern. I'm in Canada, I'm still going to get him and
you guys aren't seeing a cent of my money.
Yet somehow douchebags like Opie and Anthony WILL be on the air in Canada.
And I don't understand why people like the idea of satellite radio as
opposed to downloading a ton of music onto an MP3 player that, when you hear
a song that grates on you, can be skipped.

With no Howard Stern there is no reason to buy a Canadian Sirius radio.
Both XM and Sirius are struggling to make a profit in the US so good
luck in Canada. It is a better product then the crap that is on free
radio right now but unless they are charging less then $8 a month most
Canadians that are cheap would pass.

I don't know about you;when I am in a moving vehicle and I am driving,I
do not want to "interact" with the media and constantly have to take my
eyes off the road to search for a song,or push buttons or pop in a CD
into a player and take my eyes off of my driving.Same thing with cell
phones.
Satellite radio is great in the fact that you can set a channel before
driving and listen to a "play list" without fumbling around with the
equipment so much. And I have all my presets ready to go too. Some of you
MIGHT be great at multi-tasking while you are driving in heavy
traffic.Speaking for myself though,I would rather NOT be around you when
you do it though.
I almost got hit 2 weeks ago by some woman talking on a cell phone and
not paying attention.
CD "popping",MP3 playlist selection and tape
juggling are all part and parcel of the same thing. The SIMPLER the
better,operations wise.

The only problem with that is I doubt you will get it without the annoying
DJs. XM and Sirius seem to be full of them and it seems like for some
reason they are getting more. Too bad for us all.

Ah, thank god for the advent of mp3 stereos.

Because not everyone is 22 years old and has the time to download and
burn....some of us are older, and have other things to worry about, like
jobs, homes, families, responsibilites that eat up our time...just wait, in
10 - 15 years, you'll be one of us, old, balding, unable to get it up, up to
your neck in debt, ****ty in laws, demanding bosses, and then, you'll wonder
where all the spare time went to LOL

Ummmm, I'm turning 37 on Thursday (I'll let you wish me a Happy Birthday on
the 24th, unless you want to now).
I'm 14, 000 in debt on a Pres. Choice Mastercard, own a house that is
bleeding me dry (which is partly why I said, in the firstplace, that
downloadnig is better: cheaper) and I have a family, as well as an 70 pound
ball of passive-agressive Chow Chow. As for the demanding boss and
inability to get it up-don't have that problem... er, yet. As for time, I
believe it was Shakespeare (or maybe it was Chris Elliot) who once said
'Those who have no time never seem to do anything with it... ' OK, I
honestly don't remember the quote, but it was basically that it's EASY to
find the time and the people that complain most about NOT having time are
the ones doing the least with the time they have.

sirius has obviously never heard about. This will make the white stores in
america look like the biggest windfall ever. Remember field studies. If they
sell one subscription it's one more than they should.

Given the fact the U.S. is so large and lush in its ability to be a
self-sufficent broadcasting beacon w/ it's like, 4 million XM (U.S.)
subscribers, I don't see how XM Canada... which I see as the clear
winner much like Bell ExpressVu is to Star Choice, could get more than
675,000 and succeed for very long. Then again, years later and Bell
ExpressVu and even LOOK TV is still kickin'.

Given that most of the infrastructure is already in place, it's a
question of whether the 675,000 subscribers are worth the cost of
dealing with the legislative bull****.

I believe the American pioneers won't break even for 4-6 years. I
suppose you'd have to double that at least for the Canadian co's.

I don't know in what context you are speaking of, but on the US based
channels, there will be a barely percievable, if any, increase of cancon.

The two companies were actually bitching about having to have more
French Cancon they desired. lol And some Canadian watchdog groups say
even w/ a combined more French content and coupled w/ the English
Canadian content STILL doesn't make it Canadian enough. Pretty much just
an American piggyback.

(((IF ONLY))) we could get DirecTV and Dish Network licensed here if
they offered 3 Canadian stations for every 5 American channels you can
get by subscribing to a "DirecTV Canada" (Bell ExpressVu goes bye-bye)
and "Dish Network Canada" (Star Choice goes bye-bye).
