I have a new freeview box and a decent new rooftop aerial, with a
booster because I wanted the telly in another room, away from the main aerial wall point. The freeview picture is quite good for bbc1, 2, itv, etc, but for some reason, when I watch BBC4, the picture freezes/breaks up/pixelates/disappears quite often. (It usually starts off OK, but then goes a bit funny after about half an hour or so.) I live in a fairly rural part of Dorset. Any thoughts would be very interesting. Thank you, regards, dnw. |

You may find a few clues if you scroll back to the thread I started on the 14/10/05 "Sandy Heath & BBC4(or lack of)" lots of helpful suggestions, and I did clear my problem. -- M Stewart Milton Keynes, UK http://www.megalith.freeserve.co.uk/oddimage.htm |

I think I might have an aerial problem then (relating to Mux B)
The installer put the new aerial on the roof before I bought my freeview box - I wonder if he "tuned it in" for analogue rather than digital signals (if that makes technical sense?) Also, one of the aerial "metal bits" looks slightly wonky looking at it from the ground. I have rebooted and rescanned the freeview box - if that doesn't fix it by 7pm ish, when BBC4 starts, then I guess I'll need to get an engineer round to see if the aerial has been correctly installed - I won't get the original guy back because he was obnoxious. Thanks, dnw. |

digital tv in another room .......
Try removing the booster, does Freeview box now work reasonably ok with aerial plugged straight into it? Ok, then .... If so, then you might just extend the aerial lead to where you want it, sans amplifier. Or you might use a "link plus" solution, needs a few bits, but will let you watch and control the Freeview box remotely from elsewhere in house, see www.tvlink.co.uk (note, this solution requires a Freeview receiver having internal modulator, ie, picture received via tv set aerial socket, not SCART lead!). |
