Default SKY - SKY+ upgrade ??

....I'm an existing SKY digital user.. all I want to do is get a combined SKY
digital plus HD recorder in 'one box'
(I'm not too worried about twin tuners and recording 'extras' that the full
SKY+ system offers...) I just want to reduce space by having SKY and HD
recorder combined in one unit....also I don't want to pay the extra for SKY
+ subscription....

IF I buy a SKY+ unit (ebay) with a 40 or 80 HD will it work OK with SKY
normal on my normal SKY subscription ???

If you are subscibing to a Premium package such as movies or sports,
there's no Sky+ sub. If you buy one off Fleabay, you'll still need to
pay £10 a month to Sky or subscribe to premium package in order to be
able to use the recording facilites - thus actually making it no
cheaper than getting one from Sky. Sky are doing a half price offer
until end of October.

As I understand it, the thing is useless without a subscription.

If you do not want to subscribe, then upgrading your package to include
premium channels should do it.
