missed start recording sky+

My first recording last night was on at 9pm. We set it up to record at
around 6pm so it wasn't on the fly. It says it is a "missed start" recording
with a length of 56 mins.
Not bothered by the few missing minutes but am wondering why Sky+ would miss
the start of the recording?

if it's anything like the programme reminders on the normal sky epg it
will only trigger when the broadcaster changes the now/next
information. if the programme starts before that changes you will miss
the start. can you not set recordings to start manually at your own
start and end times? if not you would have to set it to record the
programmes immediately before and after the one you want to watch too.

cant you set sky+ to record 10 mins b4 and after?
