Default card activation

Can anyone confirm please that if a viewing card for a box is not activated,
Sky cannot bill you for it?
thanks.

Well clearly if Sky are preventing you from using their service and it is no
fault of yours, or your equipment, then they are in breach of contract.

But I am wondering about the circumstances this 'not activated' card, can
you give us the full details?

Yes sorry. Its long winded but I shall make it as brief as possible.

Have had multiroom for a year. At the weekend I ordered sky+ for £99. I
was assured several times that because I already had multiroom I would not
have to pay another £10 per month. The truth is opposite, they have ordered
me multiroom and sky plus on the basis that the £99 box was only for
customers taking up a new contract of multiroom. Very unfair I think seeing
as I already have had it for a year.
Anyway I phoned up Sky tonight to cancel it and the lady at sales confirmed
what had been ordered but she said that when the card arrives in the post,
do not under any circumstances use that card and set it up. Just use the
current cards and stick with the original setup plus sky+ box and do not let
the engineer install the second box.
She says providing the new card is not activated they cannot bill me the
extra £10. I am concerned they are ****ting on me again so just want to
make sure that was she says about the card is correct.
