I want to get a antenna for OTA HDTV and live in the Denver, CO area.
Has anyone on here tried using an attic antenna? If so, are there any specific models I should look at and do they work well? I have been looking at the Channel Master 4228 and have considered mounting that in the attic along with a pre-amp. has anyone used this antenna? I want to avoid a rooftop installation if necessary and don't want a antenna that is very large and visible or hard to install. Attic space is very tight though. |

If you get an antenna in the yellow category because you are close enough to the transmitter(s), and don't have any surrounding obstructions (forest of trees, tall buildings) between you and the transmitters, consider the (indoor) Zenith Silver sensor. It may look unimpressive, but in my case, it actually did better than my roof-top antenna. -- eNo "Why am I here?" |

I live in northern VA and use a 4228 (without a preamp) in my attic and it
works very well for the digital stations in D.C., which is about 45 airline miles E-NE of me. The house is slightly elevated (~600' above sea level) and is not obstructed by topography or trees. I dont receive max signal strength as indicated by the bars for the Samsung SR351 decoder (why they didnt list it as a percent is beyond me ;p). Anyway, on Thursday I had beautiful pictures for all channels. On Saturday with similar signal strength, I get broken up broadcasts on almost every channel. Does this mean I should be looking into an attic or rooftop antenna or should I hold off and see if the same problem keeps happening? I guess some sort of amp would be another option as running the cable from an outdoor antenna would be a pain in my house. Thanks. Jeff |
