Absolutely insane that they do not promote HD in the ads for many specials that are
in HD.

Agree. The fashion show was OK (should be on Showtime HD, IMO, if you
know what I mean), but the smoke and lighting during Sting's song
really gave the mpeg compression fits.

I did not notice that.
Do you have your sharpness turned WAY down?
It should be at almost the lowest point possible.

It's turned to the proper level according to the Avia home theater
disk. It probably 25% from the lowest setting. I thought it was
pretty noticable during the song, but the rest of the show looked
great.
