Default PC DVB cards

Hi,

I have a (lifeview) 'DVB-T' card in my PC running media centre. I
understand that all DVB is not the same, so if I decided to switch to
cable, would I also require a new card? (for running the cable signal
through my PVR).

I ask this because my old analogue tuner would apparently handle
cable/aerial transmissions through the same hardware, but now I'm seeing
a range of dvb-t, dvb-s and dvb-c hardware.

Cheers,
Chris

IIRC DVB-C uses a range of frequencys outside that which an "aerial"
tuner card would pick up.

AIUI there is also (perhaps more importantly) the fact that DVB-C even
"free" channels on telewest/ntl are encrypted and that there is
currently no way to decrypt them.

Aha, thanks for that

Aww bugger! That'll probably be why I couldn't find so many dvb-c
capture cards on the market...

Cheers,
Chris
