Default Parents have been customers for 14 years..... not happy

Hi all.. hope someone can help.

My parents were over at mine the other day and say my sky+ box.. they
were hooked, and want one too. I presume you all know where this is
going now....

Now they have been with sky since 1991. always on the full package of
sports and movies.

My mother called them last night to ask if they could get a skyplus box
too. "only if you give us £259" was the response.

But we have been with you for all this time, and you are giving them to
new customers for £99.... surely as a loyal customer I should have one
for that too.....?? she said..

they said no till she said she wanted to cancel her subscription..then
they magically could match it at £99.

No she said.. I want it free, as I have been such a good customer....
they offered a reconditioned one at £50 (is this guaranteed does anyone
know?)

anyway my mother said no, cancel it, and has now given a months notice....

My parents WILL call back to reinstate it in a week or two as my old man
cant live without his football.

BUT are they likely to get a sky+ box for free if they do cancel their
subscription?

thanks.

I never said they were better than anyone.

Are you this rude to everyone in your life? or just online?

Well, I bought my sky+ box, i didn't ask for it free. Are you usually such a sponger or just online?

FFS, it's a product, why should sky give it to you free? I despise Sky myslef, but it's a monopoly & you
either buy it or you dont.

I wouldn't call it being a sponger....

They wanted £259 for it.... Then they were quite happy to accept £99.

They then offered a reconditioned one for £50, and I asked the group if
this would be guaranteed.

Do you always buy everyting at the 'offered price'?

If you do, then perhaps you should reconsider your purchases.

I have re-read my post.... certainly nothing wrong with it.

Thanks for your time in responding.

That would have been for a brand new box then, from what you say below.
The £99 offer to new subscribers is for a reconditioned box. She was
right to threaten to cancel, but blew everything when she went through
with it.

For 3 months.

No. Your mother is very greedy! Hardware is not free, and both offers
(new for £99, 2nd hand for £50) are much better offers than those for
the new customers. So her loyalty was rewarded in the end, but that
still wasn't enough for her!

Your mother HAS already cancelled her subscription, from what you say,
and blown away the (very good) £99/£50 offers. Game over. She is now
back to square one (£259 for Sky+). All she can do is phone back and say
she has changed her mind and doesn't want to cancel - that would get the
viewing back, with the ordinary digibox.

I'd be astonished if the lower prices would be offered to her again,
because the only way to get them is to threaten to cancel. Second time
around they know she is crying wolf.

HTH

Cool, thanks Mike.

I work in Customer Relations for a large company and I think your
parents are taking the ****. They wanted it at the price of a new
subscriber, they were told they could have it, then they said they
wanted it for free, Sky said they could have it for £50 and that's not
good enough.

Perhaps you can swap your parents for some that are more reasonable?
