Jeez. I just was updated to 7.2 and I'm not impressed. If anything, the
performance is worse than earlier 7.1x. Each keystroke on the remote delays about 1.5 seconds before response. This makes the unit UNUSABLE. I was conn'ed into upgrading from Series I to Series II for the added features. Never did I expect that the BASIC PERFORMANCE of the unit would go into the TOILET. I called TiVo to take advantage of the 30 day guarantee and the operator talked me into accepting an additional 30 day window to accept the new software that would be available to cure the performance problems. I bit. Here we are, after that upgrade and ONE MORE UPGRADE, an the response IS WORSE. How can that be?? Does TiVo have any pride??? I can no longer recommend TiVo to my friends. I feel taken-advantage-of. If I could get a refund, I would. Slick salesmaship got me (promises that the next version of software, 7.1b, would cure the problems). Not so. Liars. 7.2 is worse yet. I still love my Series I. Formerly a massive TiVo fan (no longer), Cole Chevalier |

I bit. I know they all use different versions of the software, but the performance on my friend's DirecTivo went way up a few weeks ago when it got new software. I was under the mistaken impression that, though they had different version numbers, the 'basic guts' of the software was roughly equivalent on S2s and DirecTivos. Guess not. The Now Playing list comes up much faster on his DirecTivo, and my only quibble is that you sometimes see the selection bar show up before the contents do.. But I think you can still page up/down while the painting is happening. So that's worth the slight visual effect. (Me, I'm still waiting 10-20 seconds to get to Now Playing on one of my S1 Tivos. PIP comes in real handy.) -- |
