Would this widget :-
http://www.tvlink.co.uk/tvlinkplus.htm do the same as what sky want £10 a month for Multiroom ? Im in a real quandry on upgrading to sky + as they dont do a real good deal for subscribers unless you have the multi room, I already pay the full price for SKy and £50 a month is a bit strong. I was considering getting my own sky+ box secondhand but they seem to be as much as sky want to upgrade anyway, Im using a Wireless TV Sender at the moment but there is too much interference and its a pain |

tv link lets you watch the digibox in another room, and remote control
it, via cable connection. To receive 2 sky channels simultaneously, you need either sky+, or 2 digiboxes (with 2 viewing cards!). (2 simultaneous channels also require dual output lnb in dish, and a 2nd antenna cable). |

The skyplus site confused me, I have now read it again and will call them to confirm. if guess if I order it with Multiroom it will only cost £99 for installation and wont have to pay £10 for multiroom, sorry I see where I went wrong. Thanks for putting me right there. I think its worth that as it would cost me more to have someone come in and re-cable it how I want it. andy |

No, MultiRoom will cost you an extra £10 per month regardless of whether you have Sky+ or not, and both boxes will require permanent connection to the same phone line. Sky+ will cost you an extra £10 *if* you don't subscribe to more than 2 premium channels. Apparently you do subscribe to more than 2 premium channels and so you won't have to pay the Sky+ £10 fee. My main question, which you didn't answer, was "what do you want it to do?". I suspect that you don't want MultiRoom at all. A TVLink or a decent video sender would probably satisfy your needs for no extra monthly cost. Both are compatible with Sky+. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. A TVLink or a decent video sender would probably satisfy your needs for no extra monthly cost. Both are compatible with Sky+. I like the video aspect of it, as for 6yrs now ive been without a video type thing until last week. Secondly we have been living our bedroom in the Living rom for the last 2 yrs but have now seperated the rooms to have a proper living room and bedroom, now i only watch TV Late at night (like now but nothing on) and all my partner does is watch soaps and music channels so to be able to watch football and films back in the bedroom on my bed like I prefer wiothout her around is good, so to be able to watch 2 sky channels at once is good. I guess to have a proper TV Link put in by someone else would prolly cost more than £99 as the video sender i have is not that good and im no wiring expert makes the skky+ deal feasable. Lastly The current setup I have is having a TV/Video Combi in the Bedroom with a Video Sender set on the Sky and enabling the other viewer to be able to watch the other 4 Terresrial channels on main TV is not really working as the TV Ariel is not much cop and i have to change the TV Settings all the time so for a one off fee of £99 its worth it, I just didnt want to pay another £10 a month, One last question :- after this year on sky+ is finsihed and i cancelled the premium channels would the machine not work in multirooom or be able to record programmes. Thanks for the advice offered, it is appreciated, shame they make you hold so long on the phone, I gave up when they said my call would be answered within the next 25 minutes ![]() Andy |

so to be able to watch 2 sky channels at once is good. This requires a MultiRoom sub. Without it you are restricted to one channel at a time. TVLink/VideoSender solutions offer only the same channel on both TVs. Installing a cable for TVLink shouldn't be too expensive, depending on how far apart the rooms are. Good VideoSenders work well and are not expensive. Maybe yours needs adjusting? One last question :- after this year on sky+ is finsihed and i cancelled the premium channels would the machine not work in multirooom or be able to record programmes. MultiRoom will work if you continue to pay the £10 MultiRoom sub. The Sky+ will only record/playback if you pay the Sky+ fee, which is waived when you have the premium channels. So without those channels you must pay another £10 if you want to record. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
