VOOM, the new HD satellite service came out with a terrific offer
yesterday. They are offering free programming until 2/29/04 and a money back guarantee until 3/31/04 for all equipment purchased. Essentially, they are giving you free programming and equipment for the next four months without any obligation. If you don't like the service they will take back the equipment until 3/31/04 and refund your money. They also are not charging you for programming. They currently have 25 HD channels and are promising 39 HD channels by 2/1/04. For details call 1-800-GET-VOOM or go to www.voom.com. (The website has not been updated yet for this new offer,so I would call for details) |

"Scott G." wrote in message ... VOOM, the new HD satellite service came out with a terrific offer yesterday. Hey, look it is advertising bot. The lineup looks like HD just for the sake of HD. Not very compelling programming and lacking especially in the SD lineup. Kyle |

The lineup looks like HD just for the sake of HD. Not very compelling
programming and lacking especially in the SD lineup. "Compelling" is in the eyes of the beholder isn't it? Keep in mind too that VOOM advertises itself as an HD service with "some" SD whereas Dish and DirecTV are SD services with "some" HD. Different approach, different emphasis. |

But (IMO) HD just for the sake of HD is not much value. They just as well
carry HSN and QVC in HD. How many noticed they also do not offer HBO? That alone would be a deal-breaker for me. Ah, but HBO is just about a done deal and will arive shortly as is Cinemax E&W, INHD1 & 2, Starz HD E&W, TMC HD, ESPN HD, NFL HD, NBA HD in addition to the existing TWELVE exclusive HD movie channels and the special interest HD channels. The 12 exclusive HD movie channels are already offereing some really neat HD movies not seen on HBO, Showtime etc. YOWSER!! More HD then anybody else by far, and excellent quality channels to boot. A win win for anybody really interested in HD! |

whats the free offer?
VOOM is offering a money back guarantee for systems purchased before 1/1/04. Those systems can be returned for a full refund by 3/31/04 if you are not satisfied. Pretty amazing deal in the world of electronics. Also, all programming is free until the end of February. |

after the offer I think their price after the free offer is up is very reasonable. For $39.90 you get 21 exclusive HD channels including 12 unique movie channels showing all HD movies. There's also a news/weather channel in HD, special interest HD channels and for the price quoted above, you get one free "pack". A "pack" is a combinations of other HD channels. As an example, the "HD Marquee" pack includes Discovery HD, Starz E&W HD, INHD1 & 2 and 6 other SD Starz channels. So all of that woud be $39.90. IMO a damn great deal. There are 4 other packs including an HBO HD pack, Showtime HD pack, HD Sports pack and a Cinemax HD pack. Each additional pack beyond the first free one you choose is $14.90. |

Do you work for Voom? If not they should be paying you!
How come you don't mention the $795.00 you have to shell out for the box up front? I have HD through Cox cable, 9 channels, no upfront, no extra charge per month above what I was already paying. They will add more as it becomes available.
