Good GOD! do you mean someone is trying to make money from a TV station?
Wow!
I take it that you go to work for no money, as you seem to think that
everything should be "free"?

ABC1 is FTA on Freeview so doubtless supported by advertising revenue. They
could have done the same on satellite like other commercial stations instead of
charging a subscription & _still_ interrupting programmes with advertisements.

Just like every other channel?

The majority of people who have a sat dish at 28.2E have a Sky Sub at Family
Pack or above, so it won't make any chuffin' difference.

If you want it for free, go to Freeview. It's only on 6am-6pm there. It's
getting an 18 or 24 hour slot at least on Sky.

From their point of view I suppose it makes sense.

For the sake of losing a few potential FTA digital satellite customers
they get their channel transmitted free, free encryption, and maybe even
a few pennies per view every month. Well, I'm assuming that's the deal
they have. Anyone got any definite information about it?

And what does Sky get in return? One less freebie channel to tempt
viewers to a FTA digital satellite service.
