Last night I partially watched a program I had recorded earlier on Sky+.
I didn't watch the entire program however when I went back to the planner, to watch the rest of it, it had gone and I'm sure I didn't delete it. Any ideas please? Danny |

Danny I've hada few failures recently. It recorded the second half only of 'house' this week, & a couple of recordings said 'failed' with no explanation plus it stopped recording something I was watching live (and recording as well) but a few minutes behind, when I existed pause... maybe its time for a power cycle. -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |

Definitely time for a Rebuild FS and power cycle. -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |

Danny I think it's being somewhat over optimistic to expect a Sky+ to work properly. Regards Mike. |

Danny I think the givaway for this is that when you try to go into a recording which you know was there, the figure for disk usage has reduced to 0% and you cannot access the programme. However, the figure of disk space still available shows that it should still be there. A reboot of the box will then show all programmes recorded, not just the ones which have gone to 0%, as 'failed' and deleting them does not increase the available disk space. At that point only a full system reset will bring the space back to 100%, and loses everything in the planner. We are now getting this on the third Sky+ box, and each time Sky comes and replaces it, the 'new' one is just as bad. There must be a design fault inherent in all the Pace boxes. Jeffrey Smith. |

Jeffrey Smith. this is my second box, which I've had for two weeks, the previous box had to be replaced in the first week. Not very good is it? |

Danny Thanks guys, I'm getting the message. I think that I know where I should look for planner rebuild, a software reload and a full reset; is this the same as a Rebuild FS? However what is a power cycle please? Danny switch it off and on :-) switch off - wait 10 seconds - switch on *at the power socket* Reason for doing this is to force a fresh reload of the Sky+ Operating System in case that is what is corrupted, the on/off on the remote just changes the colour of the light on the front betwen red and green. -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |

There must be a design fault inherent in all the Pace boxes. You can't really blame Pace as the boxes themselves aren't bad. The hard drives (not made by Pace) are the single most likely thing to go wrong and I'm sure that nearly all breakdowns in the first months are due to drive failure. Blame Maxtor for that. Apart from that, the big problem with the Sky+ looks like crappy software and Sky are responsible for this. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
