Default Sky + and a video recorder

I'm going to cancel my Sky subscription and revert to Skyfreesat for a few
months.
I use a Sky + box, will I be able to connect a video recorder to the Sky +
box and use that for recording since the recording facitility on the box
will be disabled?
Thanks

Yes, but you'll lose dual recording. In other words, you'll only be able
to record what you're actually watching.

You do of course have the option of continuing to pay the UKP 10 a month for
the Sky+ functionality, but dropping your channel subscription (using it to
only record the free channels).

Apparently it can take some work to convince the Sky people that this is
allowed, but a number of people have done it.

Heh!, Some scammer is selling the info on Ebay!

Personally I ask "Allowed??, It should be free to record to start with!"

Thought you could still manually record with the sky+ without subscription?

Nope, all recording and playback is suspended unless Sky enable it.
Which they won't do without a sub of some sort.
