Default High Definition ESPN on Time Warner

Does anyone know why Time Warner doesn't offer HDTV for ESPN? They offer it
for HBO, Showtime, NBC, ABC, etc. Seems strange to me.

Thx,
Ted

From what Ive heard, ESPN charges more for its HD feed. So
cable/satellite companies who pick it up either have to eat the cost
or pass it on to their customers. So far, TW has opted not to do
either of those and instead just not carry ESPN.

It was the late Sen. Everett M. Dirksen (R-IL) and he said "a billion here,
a billion there" while talking about the budget and deficits. Just about
the most intelligent thing I've ever heard from a Republican.
YMMV

Who was it who said "A million here, a million there, and pretty soon

you're
talking real money" ?

I know that TWC is being nice to look out for all their subs. but, WHEN
WILL ESPN-HD be on TWC?

Who is TWC really looking out for?

Comcast here has eaten it. I forget the figure but I just read them
last week. ESPN charges something like $2.38 per viewer to carry it
and only about 11-13 cents more for HD. Cable companies are balking
because they are already paying a fortune. Perhaps someone else can
com up with the exact numbers. I hope I'm not too far off but I could
be. Even if the regular feed were $1 cheaper than my quote, it seems
that 11 Cents shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Multiply that by 7.5 million Comcast digital cable subscribers = $825,000
per year
or by 21.3 ESPN subscribers on Comcast = $2,343,000 per year

And that's just for the HD ESPN channel.

Who was it who said "A million here, a million there, and pretty soon you're
talking real money" ?
