Sky + box stoppped working - Help !

Help !!!


sky + has been working fine but came back from work to find it's stuck in
standby. Tried turning power off then on but still stuck in standby.


HELP !!!!!!!!!!

Had the same problem myself - there was something on here a whieback for
performing a hard reset, power off at wall, hold a couple of buttons down on
box while powering back on.

Mine turned out to be a failing HDD, Sky wanted to charge me 65 quid for
replacement - usual threaten to leave - Engineer for free, new box, and
re-alligned dish.

Your consumer rights far exceed any warranty period. It should be
possible to pursue Sky for a free replacement box if the original is
less than 3 or 4 years old, perhaps even more. And the 3 month
warranty on the replacement box is just a bad joke.

No monies return'd. ;-)

1st try software reload.

2nd try disk rebuild (but loses all exsiting recordings!).

One of those should work (probably 1st), it's unlikely to be a hardware
fault!
