Hi all,
I only watch and record films mostly on my SKY+ box. Part of the reason I choose SKY was Films are not broken with adverts. Along with the splendid film: Van Helsing, I recorded the 1 hour, rather than the 1/2 hour, because I thought it would be a fuller behind the scenes programme on the making of Van Helsing. Only to find it littered with adverts, so rerecorded it to computer and edited them out, this made the 1 hour programme 38 Min 55 Sec. Is this the beginning of adverts in all programmes? |

They certainly like their adverts! Take Deadwood. This is what - a 45 min programme? so clearly it was intended to run with 15 minutes of adverts. Except that $ky have squeezed in 20 mins of ads, so that it now runs at 1:05 |

There are no adverts within a movie on the premium channel. As you have seen there are adverts between the movies and in programming on the premium channel that are not actual movies. I am sure you have found when using SKY+ that adverts are a minor annoyance, you'll soon get into the habit of recording virtually all your programming. It has to be said that if you want extensive extras for movies then DVD is the only way to go and you get to see them months before a movie even turns up on SBO let alone the normal sub channel. Mike C I agree, I binned sky movies a couple of months ago and joined Tesco's online DVD rental scheme. I havent looked back. And now that E4 is on Sky as soon as I can be arsed getting an aerial sorted it the lot can go. I cant see the point of all those channels when all that is on is Friends, The Simpsons, Location...., etc same **** day in day out. I feel like I have already seen all the TV. Rick |

That would seem to imply that most of them can't be arsed about adverets, and people such as you & I are in a minority. There are too many other cheaper and/or better options now (DTT PVRs, DVD rental, NVOD via ADSL). They need to watch out or subscriber numbers will start dropping fast. Worse still now is people are sayng *Ads only APPEAR louder* however if they do only appear louder,Then that means they actually are. Watching UK Gold is 3 step volume switch, 1 - when the Ads come on,sound down a few notches 2 - Promo comes on for UK whatever, sound down another couple of notches, 3 - Sound back up for the programme! A pity there's no in-line Automatic Volume control gizmo to plug into the box between TV and Digibox to keep the volume at one level. Sky+ is basically rendered useless as anything recorded is plastered with dogs or/and Coming soon,So pointless to have *red dot removal* software! It's third rate TV at First rate prices! I'd love to see Sky One on similar to analogue TV and see how many *non-Sky* subscribers who'd never seen the channel actually watch it...Even Channel 5 eventually removed their dog! Perhaps todays children are the next batch of Sky subscribers,Hence CITV Dogs and similar BBC dogs who in a few years will be posting to this group saying "Dogs don't bother me,They've been on TV since I first began watching it" Years after that..."What do you mean,A CLEAR Screen on a TV Channel?"
