Default Moving

Hi,

I am moving next month. I have a Samsung Pedestal DLP. The moving company is
will be sending a special packaging company. They want $900 to package it.
That sounds kind of a lot of money. Unfortunatly I threw away it's original
carton.

Is there a question there somewhere?

I would give it away before, I would give any mover $900. You should know
moving companies are some of the biggest crooks around. Do your research on
finding a mover and check out their background and get an ironclad written
agreement on costs.

why don't you just buy a big box, a plastic bag, and a bunch of styro
peanuts? probably cost you $9 to box it yourself...

You should go to Home Depot and ask someone if they have a box and
packing materials big enough for your TV. It'll probably cost ya $15 or
less.

Man...$900 is almost the price of your TV! That's insane!

Rip offs in the moving business are VERY common. Get another company.

Why don't you contact Samsung, or the store that sold the set? They can
probably get a replacement box, or give you advice.
When the TV was delivered was it in one piece? Perhaps the pedestal comes
off, maybe even the screen "box" comes off of the "tower".

Man...$900 is almost the price of your TV! That's insane!

Yes, most likely they'll end up trying to charge you MORE than $900, once
they have the TV boxed up and safely in their moving van (they hold your
stuff hostage to force you to pay whatever they ask), claiming they hadn't
been informed of its unusual shape or that it was delicate or whatever. And
they'll probably break it anyway.
