I just bought a Sony 60" Grand Wega LCD and an Onkyo 801 receiver. To my
disappointment, I have to use 2 different input cables to connect to the TV because the receiver can only ouput the same type of cabling. For example, my DVD player uses component cables to hook into the receiver and can use component cables from the receiver to the TV for watching DVD's. But my cable box only has RCA jacks which input to the receiver. Because the receiver can only output on the same type of cable, I have to use RCA cables to connect to the TV for watching TV or any other source using RCA cabling. I don't know if this is normal for a $800 receiver but I expected otherwise. So my question is, does anybody know of a receiver which can mix and match different types of input cables but output on only one? Thanks for your feedback, -tom |

wrote: no, not yet. Supposedly by Xmas. Thanks for the tip about the Denon. Keep in mind you probably will be switching component cabling through the receiver with an HD cable box or HD-sat receiver one day, not just progressive dvd. The 3803 component switching is rated at 100Mhz plus it coverts composite to svideo or both to component. The 801 says HD capable component switching which could be as low as 30mhz. I bought the avr-3803/2900 dvd for the GF for her new 42-610 sony. She was sick of me staying parked in from of my plasma on Sun watching football so we brought her up to speed , 24" sony wasn't cutting it. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attac...398&fullpage=1 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attac...392&fullpage=1 |
