BTW, is switching off the red dot the *only* thing the new software
does? I have noticed anything else different.

Mine was finally updated this morning.

So was mine, marvellous.

No, it has prepared the EPG for the reshuffling. e.g. radio channels
will begin 0, amongst other things

It also has the enhanced parental lockout options on channels.

When I checked my Grundig box last night it still had the old software.
Is the roll out regional (Northamptonshire)? Or should I force another
software reload.

The rollout is by exact models (is there more than one Grundig?).

Forcing a download is counterproductive as this normally loads the "known
stable" version (ie. the OLD software!). There is no way to force a download
of the new software ... except that, as it downloads to a second memory bank,
simply powering off and on will activate it if it is present.

STILL no "last channel" button though: the single most requested feature
and seven years on we're still waiting.

Their excuse is always 'there is no spare button on the remote
control'.

It's a pathetic excuse, and indeed a lie. The blue button activates
"favourite" channels. Green and yellow are completely spare and unused.

As is "backup" which even has a convenient name for a "last channel"
feature from live TV.

I always thought that's what backup was going to do when I first got
sky, but now it is my most used button because I cant bear to wait for
the banners and stuff to time out. If I switch to a sky channel i have
to press backup twice before my picture is clear of banner, red button
etc. So to backup to last channel you'd need to press it 3 times. I
know the icon goes away after 30 seconds, but I cant wait that long.
Why can't you set the search and scan banner to time out after 1
second, not 5? If you set it to zero, the favourite channels feature is
deactivated, so that's no use. Using one of the other colour buttons is
a good idea, but imagine sky having to explain that to everyone. Most
people I know dont even use 'favourite channels'.
