According to Digital Spy:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds21435.html [quote] Paramount Comedy is the favourite to replace E4 on Top Up TV, according to this week's Broadcast. The service add-on has been seeking a new channel for its pay TV lineup since Channel 4 announced its intention to transform E4 into a free-to-air offering late last month. Others on the shortlist include National Geographic, LivingTV, MTV and Eurosport but Paramount is thought to be the frontrunner. The replacement could be on air as soon as this Tuesday (June 1). [End quote] **** Well, that's not very exciting then is it? As a non-subscriber to TUTV, I might sign up if they get something vaguely interesting to replace E4, but Paramount doesn't inspire me to sign up. National Geographic might... And the fact that the article gets the day wrong (1st June is Wednesday) doesn't inspire me with confidence in the accuracy of the reporting. Ric. |

There are too many rumours floating around at the moment, from SkyOne to Parmount to LivingTV to UKG2. One of them will probably turn out to be correct and then people will try to claim bragging rights having got it right earliest, until then not worth speculating any further ... An 'indusry type' intimated to me in passing that none of the above channels are in the frame (not that I really care). All bets are off I think, but looks like it might be a real barrel-scraper. Whatever it is, I only hope it hastens the end of this half-baked bandwidth-sapping pay TV system we have to endure on DTT at the moment. /anti TUTV mode BTW, who remembers the interregnum between ITV Digital and Freeview? When SDN had little on their mux 'cept C5 and QVC... C5 was then running at a 'generous' bitrate of 6-7mb/s (or something like). The pictures were fantastic: DVD quality, and that's not something you can usually say about DTT unless they're showing the testcard! Far better than the rest of 'big 5' ever were, or ever will be again... Oh happy days, Dowager Widow |
