Default E4 on Freeview - Friday

Do we have any information regarding MUX and LCN for the launch of E4
free to air this coming Friday or have I managed to miss it?

Won't they carry on using channel 14? This is currently E4 encrypted.

E4 will be on LCN 14

E4+1 will be on LCN 39

On the C4 web site.

I know E4 curently is on TopUp, so this space already exists, it will just
become un encrypted on Friday.
But does anyone know where the space for E4+1 will come from, is it as I
suspect the new CrownCastle/Sky MuxC that was auctioned a few weeks ago.
Also, when TopUp looses the space on Friday does this mean that they will
loose the entire 24hr stream and hence some of their other
proramming,(what?) or does E4 not broadcast 24hrs?

My OnDigital box has just picked up three new channels:

"E4+1" on 39
"TopUpTV new ch" on 49

Not sure what the third one is - was 705 there before? I can't tell which
muxes they are on.

I've just done a channel scan on a couple of DTT boxes and found the
following:

LCN 39 "E4+1" (silent, black screen)
LCN 49 "TopUpTv new ch" (silent, black screen)

39 and 49 are on the same mux as the 3 Sky channels (Mux C?).

39, "E4+1", is now showing an E4 trailer .

Digital Spy thinks 705 is for Big Brother Interactive

Mux C is a *FREE*view multiplex like Muxes 1, B and D
The Multiplex owner would be in breach of it's contract
by carrying a subscription service.

The pedants around here are always fond of telling us that services
carried on Mux 2 and Mux A are NOT actually Freeview.

Only Mux 2 and Mux A are still permitted to carry subscription services
as their contracts pre-date the collapse of ITV Digital and the
subsequent re-awarding of contracts to the Freeview consortium
for Muxes 1, B, C and D.

TopUp services CANNOT legally go on Freeview Multiplexes
Wake-Up OFCOM !

Sort of agreed, I thought that as soon as I saw the information.

However, I wonder what exactly the contract actually says. Of course
TUTV could probably carry a FTA trailer on otherwise unused C4
capacity, and that may be the case....
