The 32 inch version looks nice, but it is expensive. I still got my doubts over LCD. I got a TFT monitor for my computer an where most of the time it is fine, sometimes it can not cope with fast moving graphics or video. I have seen LCd T.vs in comet and have seen on them, them, that fast moving pictures can leave a trail. The Sony ones looked worse than most of the others. --- avast! I used to see this sometimes on my 26-inch JVC system, but it went wrong it was replaced by a Pannie - no problems that I've seen in that regard. Clem |

You are correct, it is to do with the quality and also the speed that the LEds can refresh. Where I still think LEd displays are still the best out of the new technology stuff, it still have a long way to go, before it is as good as the CRT. The main advantage is that they are thinner and can be wall mounted, but I will wait for a few years before I will get one. I normally wait ofr a few years before I get something that is new, so most of the problems are sorted out. --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. I have a question. Have a look at this http://uk.lge.com/prodmodeldetail.do...&model=NOTHING Um, well, in case that link gets buggered it's an LG Model : RZ17LZ40 My question, which is mine, and belongs to me, is this:- do you think that's the screen the Humax is based on? Why I'm asking, I'm looking for something to replace my trusty old Trinitron whose tuners are now knackered. Although I really prefer CRT screens (I love my Iiyama monitor to death and wish Mitsubishi still did TV screens as they're about the only ones IMO to really give Sony a run for their money. Or were) I'm prepared to sacrifice *some* quality for something which will take up less space in the office. I've looked at not a few LCD screens, we have not one but *two* old fashioned electrical retailers in the town and surprisingly some of the sets appear to have been properly tuned and set up. Some of them look undeniably crap. Some of them look pretty good as long as the source is cartoons with large areas of plain bright colour, and nothing moves too fast or it smears horribly. The LG (which they have in one shop) seems a class apart, OK it isn't a CRT but it seems to retain a lot more detail in its picture, *plus* (big plus) it doesn't seem to do the motion smear thing nearly as much as any of the others. It has depth and subtlety to the picture, well comparatively anyway, the point is it's one of the few LCDs I've yet seen which I consider to be watchable. Obviously having a similar screen with a digital tuner as well as the analogue one built in at a similar price would be an advantage. It would be a good way of finding out what the digital reception is like here, we're on the edge of Tacolneston's area and allegedly cannot receive digital if you believe the websites, however the local shops claim that not a few local people are getting it OK, particularly from our part of the town, on the other hand the only Freeview boxen they supply are pretty cheapo featureless ones. Long term if it works OK I'd be considering buying a Topfield, from which I could download to one of my computers to burn to DVD, save buying a separate DVD recorder. Then if I *really* wanted visual quality (though not in widescreen) I could probably run the picture onto the Iiyama. Ah me, it's all compromise isn't it? Soooo anyway, what's the verdict with your Humax? Happy with the picture? Found any niggles yet? Got any better ideas? G |
