Default Technisat Skystar 2

I receive the satellite FTA & FTV channels on a Pace Sky digibox (I don't
subscribe to any pay-to-view channels)
I'm considering installing a Technisat Skystar 2 card in my PC.
Could an expert please confirm that :-
1. I will be able to record TV programmes on to the PC hard disk
2. With a DVD writer in the PC, I would be able to copy recorded programs
from the PC's hard disk
to DVD.
3. There is a way to preset timed recordings (as I don't subscribe, I don't
get the EPG)

Would I be able to feed both the digibox and the PC card from the LNB ?
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Yes with no loss in quality but you'll only get the BBC channels via a
skystar or any other make of sat receiver apart from a Sky box

Yes but I'm not sure the mpeg streams you record with the skystar using
progs like Prog DVB need to be conveted to a DVD standard first with
software like TMPGEnc DVD author / Editor

Yes with certain software progs. Look on www.tv-cards.com

With a splitter perhaps, over to anyone else who can answer this one

There is much more than just the BBC. ITV3 for instance is FTA. For a full list
take a look at http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/United-Kingdom.html all the Astra 2
& Eurobird 1 can be received.

Perhaps it depends on what capture software you use but I have never need to
convert the recorded files.

There are plenty of packages that allow simple timer recordings in fact the card
will probably come supplied with one. Using a package like Showshifter allows
you to integrate an EPG fed from XMLTV or best of all use Digiguide to schedule
recordings. http://www.showshifter.com/

You need to fit a dual LNB so that the digibox & PC card can work independently.
