Default IR extender problem

I have the Wavecom Sr. RF-Link with the IR extender. The IR extender will
not work with some of my devices, but it will work with others. For example,
the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 remote will work ALL my devices, but
the IR extender will not work SA Explorer 8300 box.

Can somebody tell me why?

It's possible the SA box uses a different pulse pattern, or a higher
frequency for the IR pulses, than the IR extender can handle. Some
manufacturers use odd frequencies that many remote control devices have
problems with. Proton and B&O are notorious for this, it's hard to find a
universal remote that will handle these two brands.
