Default dishplayer 7200 yellow card problem

I've now gotten my 2nd set of yellow cards for my 2 7200s. The first set got
activated after much trouble. The problem was that the picture on both
units would go black and/or pixelate plus lose or distort the sound at about
15-30 s intervals. This could not be fixed by any proceedure recommended by
the CSRs of various levels. Things I tried included: switch tests, pulling
the card, rebooting with 32768 code, checking the signal strength (88+),
unplugging from the wall for 3+ hours, cursing, drinking heavily, etc.
Nothing helped.

CSR says that the yellow cards are corrupted. They reactivated the blue
cards and the picture problem is gone.

Now the 2nd set comes today and I activate them with the web page. It takes
less than 15 min. But, I get the same symptoms as before. Pixelating
images with disrupted sound every 15-30 seconds.

Note that if you record this signal, the disruptions are played back in the
same location. If I play back saved recordings from when I had the blue
card in, no picture disruptions.

So, anyone else having the same trouble? It seems that there is some bad
interaction with the 7200 and the yellow cards. It doesn't seem isolated
since both units do the exact same thing.

Thanks for any comments

I have a 7100 that the new yellow card would not work..talked to tech
guy and he said card was bad and would send a new one ...next day I had
no TV at all with the original blue card. called again and this tech
guy said card not the problem rather the receiver will not accept new
yellow cards ..he will send a new receiver. Got the new receiver call
tech again to set it up and it had mega problems....no color and would
not recognize my switch...so now i am awaiting another receiver that is
supposed to fix all of this.. Bunch of crap to me..this is their last
chance...7100 always worked fine with the original blue card..

After more time on the phone, they are sending me two replacement receivers
and they should be here in a day or two. I hope that fixes the problems.
They wanted to charge me for the replacements ("they are out of warranty)
but I finally got them to agree that the yellow cards broke my dps and so
they were so kind as to offer me the receivers for free.

Cathy,

The Original Encryption scheme Dish started with was Nagarvision 1, the
older Blue cards only support Nagravision 1. Dish is switching over to
Nagravision 2 which is much more hacker proof. The newer yellow cards
use Nagravision 2 encryption. Dish does have a few receivers in the
field that don't have Encryption cards in their card slots because their
system boards have the encryption circuity built on the system boards,
Namely (322, 522 with Nagravision 2). The only reason these receivers
have a card slot is to future proof them just in case Dish changes their
encryption system again.

If you have any receivers on your account that still have blue cards
expect a letter from Dish with the replacement cards in them. Later this
year Dish will turn off their Nagravision 1 encryption but after all
subs are converted to Nagravision 2.

Thank you very much for the reply! I have not heard anything from Dish
my 7200 yet. I also have a 510...the card won't be swapped on that model?

I got the receivers today. They are remanufactured units with 20 GB hard
drives. I called and had them activated in less than 30 min. So far they
seem to be working fine. Nothing at all like the trouble with my original
receivers.
Also, I pulled my 40 GB drives from my old receivers and swapped them in and
I had all my saved and scheduled PVR shows + my channel lists. That was a
nice surprise. I thought I'd lose them in the swap.

Anyway, my hypothesis is that both of these DPs are pretty old ( 6 yrs) and
they just couldn't take the new cards.
So, if you have the same trouble, make them send you a new (old) unit for
free.

Thanks for listening

If it has a blue card now, it eventually will. If it came with a
yellow card, or no card at all, it won't be swapped.
