call broadcaster for assistance.
Up until now I had been watching ITV, Channel 4 and Five using an
ex-subscription card and today I got this message. Is it just me or have
they been disabling cards?

Thanks.

$KY have zapped the card.

What is the history of the card?
Is it your card ore somebody else's?
Was the original subscription cancelled in accordance with the T&C's?

First I've heard of it.

As mentioned, how long have you been using this card? Where did it
come from? Could the original owner have reported it lost?

In the summer when we got the obnoxious message every 30 seconds stating
that we needed to upgrade to continue viewing ITV, Channel4 etc I got a card
on Ebay which worked fine until last Tuesday. From then on, all I get is the
"This view card...." alert.

yes its possible $ky have zapped it
They did ours last month. That card was an EX subs card that was downgraded
to freeview when we cancelled our family package.
But when the card came up for renewal, it was zapped, We contacted $ky and
they said you'll have to get a FREEVIEW card now, Uh!! much complaining
later to the call center supervisor resulted in a new FREEVIEW card
free of charge, but beware we had to quote the old card number, and they
crossreferenced it with their database, thats hard to do with a secondhand
card off E Bay (coz you dont know the original address to which the card was
sent)...
I think it would be better to invest £20 in a legit FREEVIEW card and not an
EX SUBS one.

What do you mean by "came up for renewal"? Once you've cancelled there
is no renewal.
