All-in-one boxes are most times not a good deal, one thing will give out before the others. Not to mention inputs/outputs limitations. Does the thing have digital inputs? AFAIK The ps2 will output the digital formats from its optical output. I wouldn't recommend doing this for too long though, bad ps2 experiences whilst using it as a primary dvd player. hth, -- Cyrus *coughcasaucedoprodigynetcough* |

Welcome to the world of cheaply built all-in-one units.
Time to replace it with something better. wrote in message ups.com... That always has been the problem for all in one units, not that they
break down, but when they do, you are sol, when it needs repair. You have nothing. Apparently you need to take it in to be fixed. And pray it does not cost more to fix it than what the system cost to begin with. When something that has been working up until lately, needs to be checked out. The answers for that kind of problem can not be found on a message board, except for taking it in to be repaired. I see those home theatres in a box every where, I am not a big fan. Besides DVD changers are not that expensive to begin with. For that matter you can buy reasonably priced receivers also. |

My guess is that the RCA DVD player's laser is either dead or
misaligned. My next guess is that having it looked at or having it repaired will cost $40 or more. Suggest you ask for advice in: rec.audio.tech What's the status of your warranty? If you bought with a credit card, in some cases your credit-card company may automatically double the length of the warranty. Look at your paperwork, make some phone calls, and find out what your warranty situation is. |

HEY, it worked at least awhile, about all you can expect from cheap junk
like this. I am not a snob and dont have a problem with the HTB concept if done properly, but just like meatpackers often make sausauge out of what they sweep off of the floor, so do electronics manufacturers often make these things outta stuff that often leaves quite a bit to be desired. In any event its not worth fixing, the cost of fixing it is more than replacement cost. In other words it would be like fixing a paper towel. Start shopping for a new one wrote in message ups.com...
