Default Upgrading standard Sky to Sky+ in RoI

Hi,

My folks have had a standard digibox since june '04 while I have had a
Sky+ both installed at the same time - the folks are currently
thinking about upgrading to Sky+. While I understand that this
question is all to often asked here I was wondering if anyone one
knows the best/cheapest way to do so in the Republic of Ireland?

The deals on offer here sometimes vary from those in the UK and not
just in price.

Sky + is ?299 + fitting, no deals, only if you order it as part of a multi
room package.

Pop along to Electroplus in santry, Dublin 9. if youre in Dublin as they
supply the likes of Dixons etc with Sky plus boxes, buy a box it comes with
free LNB and do it yourself, its easy, all you need is another length of
coax for 2nd input on dish and a third if you want to use old box in another
room, if not sell the other box,

I inherited an old digibox from a cousin who got plus and didnt want it, so
seeing as i had one allready i advertised it for a quick sale of 60 euro, it
was snapped up within the week....

Thanks for the suggestions people!

I may well have a look at buying a box from Electroplus and installing
it myself - cancelling could be problematic though since we both got
our boxes (sky+ for me and digibox for the folks) at the same time and
for the same address as well as under the same name.

I got a deal on line ffor my sky+ box here www.skytvdirect.com

It says on the website

sign up here on line and get the equipment for ?290.00 and installed for
?37.50 saving you ?171.50 we will also give you a ?10 Dunnes Stores Voucher.

however I bought 2 Sky Plus boxes from Electroplus which came with 2 quad

got a discount, ended up paying 280 euro per box... happy days

Hi Guys just reading through this thread and 1 I think you have not read the
Sky Tv Direct web site fully ie. 290 for the box and a 10euro voucher back
makes it 280 and then a 100euro cash back making a Sky+ 180euro. Let me tell
you what I done I signed up as a new customer for the Sky multi room offer I
got it installed for 290 euro and got my 10euro dunnes voucher after six
weeks I got a cheque for 150euro cash back from sky (this is now gone down
to 100euro). At this stage my system was costing me 130euro I then cancelled
my mirror subscription which you are not obliged to keep for 12 months. Put
my 2nd box on the Buy and Sell and got 95euro for it making the cost of my
Sky+ box a grand total of 35euro. I think you will not cheaper then this.
This should now be 85euro because the cash back is 50euro lower than
November.

Just my pennys worth
