Default Problems with Technisat SkyStar 2 DVB-S Card

Hi All,

I'm relatively new to the world of Satellite TV etc, but I would have a
fairly good grasp of techie stuff in general. I was wondering if there was
anybody out there with experience of these cards that could help me out.

I have just installed one of these SkyStar 2 cards in my WinXP machine and
I'm trying to pick up feeds from 1W. I reckon the dish is pointing in the
correct direction, it's an 85cm dish and I'm on the West Coast of Ireland,
so it's pointing almost due South.

I have been trying to pickup BBC World from Thor 2 at 11.325H because
somebody told that this was an easy one to pick up.

However on when I open "DVBViewer" I don't get anything, the status bar at
the bottom of the pages varys between 23% and 29%. I know this is pretty low
so I tried moving the dish slightly but that made no difference, even when I
point the dish in the complete opposite direction it still shows around 23%.

Does anyone know the correct settings to have the software set to? I've been
messing around with filters etc but to no avail. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Is it outputting the correct switching and 22Khz tone for the sat in
question as IIRC I had a Skystar running under ProgDvB and that had some
"funnies" in that it wouldn't switch into one plane of polarisation,
can't remember which now;!....
