Very unlikely and probably a definite no.

The UK boxes don't do anything very useful when receiving signals from
Hotbird so I doubt that the Italian boxes will do any better on Astra
2. You could surely tune in FTA channels manually though, but why
bother when you can buy a good FTA receiver for little cost?

By the way, I'm sure that plenty of other people here would be capable
of making a worthwhile reply to this question.

Thanks Jom
As usuallly you are always helpfull, the reason of my question is that I
have a UK digibox that I used till BBC moved to Astra2d (I know I was not
allowed to take the subscrition abroad) and now also ITV News, but I payed
by direct debit like all expats.
This is the reason of my question because I think? the recievers all the
same, what works should be the card,
any reply from the Satellite'sGuru are wellcome.

Okay here is it in a little more detail. From your original question I
take it you want to use your BSkyB receiver to receive Sky Italia. The
answer is no. Simply, you would not be able to get a Sky Italia card
activated in a BSkyB receiver. The only official Sky Italia receiver
I'm aware of is the Pace DS432NS which is technically different from the
equivalent BSkyB receiver, the DS430NS. Different operating system and
epg software.

See

and

I don't think that the EPG and OS software is very different at all.
Just programmed to look for different ID data from the broadcast
satellite. An Italian box wants to see Hotbird and a UK box wants to
see Astra2.

You are surely right about Sky not activating cards for use in a box
designed for the other service.

The receivers are basically the same: the cards are too. However I
suspect that the Sky Italia boxes are programmed (in firmware) to look
for EPG data from Hotbird whilst the UK ones are programmed to look
for EPG data from Astra 2.

I don't think that inserting an activated card from the other service
will make this any different. You certainly wouldn't be able to
activate a card for one service in a box for the other service. It may
be possible to load firmware from the other service though somehow I
doubt it.
