Just got sky+ (not the 160Gb version though).
Firstly, i think its cool as f***, wish I got it yonks ago... but one quick question... If I upgrade the hard disk, is it possible to clone the original sky+ disk onto the new disk using Ghost, thus keeping any existing recordings? thanks scott. |

I doubt it because AFAIK the disk is linux formatted. Ghost on windows cant see my linux partition at all so if you took the disk out and put it in a windoze system it probably wouldnt see it. Dunno what would happen if you booted direct into Ghost though, I havent tried that. Probably easier to take a night out and watch it all first, rather than spend a night on the PC :-) -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |

take a night out and watch it all first, rather than spend a night on the PC Or perhaps consider archiving special recordings to DVD? Your recordings would be more "portable" that way anyway. Brendan |

I cant really answer the question but i do remember when i upgraded my HD in the digiox, I put the old one into my computer and was able to see all stored stuff, Cant remember if it was possible to view stuff on computer or not though but remember thinkin g I could have copied everything to new drive then put new one back into DB with everything in tact but think I read somewhere that after inserting new HD the box automatically formats it so hence me not trying. I reckon though it may be possible to get DB to format new drive then hook drive to PC and copy stuff over... i could also be wrong.. Steven. "Brendan DJ Murphy" wrote in message ... When I did it I left the lid off for a couple of weeks so that I could easily switch it all off and quickly swap the disks round when I wanted to watch something off the old one. Obviously you need to do that when you're not recording anything or you'll be fighting a losing battle. Swapping the disks takes about two minutes including the boot up time. |

Just fired up Ghost, and on my C drive, whch has 3 partitions (two for Windows and 1 linux) it reports the linux partition as 'unused space'. Which makes me wonder if, when doing a disk clone, it might speed things up by not copying the 'unused space'(aka my linux partition)? -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |
