The thought of looking at pictures of aerials and bodged installation
jobs (ie: Bill’s site) doesn’t ‘turn me on’ – but it’s amazing to note that I’ve just spent about 45 mins wandering round the pics! There’s something fascinating in the creativity of some people when it comes to the ‘simple’ task of lashing a lump of metal to a fixed (or not so fixed!) object! (OK, Bill, I know it’s not always *that* simple!) Anyway, I’ve noticed that the site now has some scans of old ads and articles and this prompts me to mention that I in a previous life (ie: Batchelor) I was ‘into’ vintage wireless and as well as collecting old sets (now in storage), I have a moderate collection of old books and magazines, including: * Trade and consumer magazines, from the 1920s to 1950s *‘Trader’ circuit diagrams and repair guides for radios and TVs *Various equipment/component manufacturers' brochures and technical guides * Books for the home constructor (mostly from the 1930s) * Books by JCW Reith, Arthur Burrows and PP Eckersley * BBC Year/handbooks from various dates between 1929 and 1973 * Two hard bound sets of Ariel – the BBC’s in-house propagan---er---magazine. The bound sets are from 1936 and 1937 which, as any BBC aficionado will know, is the period of experimental TV at Alexandra Palace and the time leading up to Radiolympia in 1938 so there’s quite a few fascinating articles. Anyway, Bill, if you fancy some snippets – or if anyone else would like access to material (or copies thereof) for research - then just decode my email address and let me know. I believe most of the stuff is well out of copyright and in any case I'll only provide extracts for reference so I don't think there's any major issues in that area. Some of the stuff is in storage so I can't guarantee a 'next day' turnaround but I'm happy to check things out if it will help anyone. If all this leaves you cold then no problems - but thanks for reading this far! SJH |

I certainly do! Anything that's specifically to do with domestic radio or TV aerials. I wouldn't like to think of you wading through page after dusty page, but if you *could* find anything I'd be very grateful. As you'll have gathered if you've looked at my site, the sort of thing I'm after is 'build your own TV aerial', aerial theory, aerial installation, etc. If you can help I'd be grateful. Email me.
