I had a quick search in the FAQ, but nothing specific for this
problem.

A friend of mine has been given a sky box and FTA card. Its all
connected via a communal aerial if that makes any difference?

Anyway, if there is no card inserted, he gets a few FTA channels, if
he puts the card in, those channels are lost, but he gains other FTA
channels. Im not sure which way round it is, but he either gets ITV or
BBC - but not both.

I know I have seen this mentioned in here previously, but a quick
search Ive not been able to find it!

I have emailed him a couple of items from the FAQ to try out (ie
resettting and manual program), but just in case thats the wrong
solution, hopefully someone can point him in the right direction...

Thanks

ITV1, Ch4, five and ITV2 need a UK FTV card, BBC Channels and the
other FTA channels listed below don't

Leave the card in the box for upto 48-72 hrs. All FTV channels will appear
correctly.

OK, I'll let him know.....

Ta

FTA channels require no card.- because they a Free To Air

FTV require a card but no subscription.

So as you see there is no such thing as a FTA card, just a FTV card.

This seems unlikely. We need to know *exactly* which channels he can
and can't receive, and also what error message he gets on those he
can't receive.

Manual programming is not the answer.

Switch off box at mains. Insert card. Switch on. Wait 1 minute. Push
Sky button. **Leave the card alone from then on.**
