Default Welcome to Collinwood - sign language on screen

Settled down to watch Welcome to Collinwood last night, recorded off
SM3 last Monday night only to find a man in the corner doing sign
language like on late night BBC progs. Have I missed something here?
How long has this been going on? Nothing about it in the TV Times.
Anyway, after less than a minute I decided it was unwatchable and
deleted it.

Just to jump in here because it is a pet rant, there is *no need* to
have this forced on everyone.
There is enough bandwidth to have this on a separate channel - it is a
legitimate use of "The Red Button"...
Some deaf people can only communicate in sign language, and not English.
Subtitles are no use to them whatsoever.

Yes agreed, but the point above applies.

True. I was responding just to the "no need" in "more and more
programing(sic) is having signing on it".

It's been going on for quite a while now. More and more programing is having
signing on it, which imho is bloody annoying and there is no need for it.

You are ignorant if you think there is "no need".

While I agree there is 'a need', it's still very annoying for the 99.9%
of people who don't 'need' it.
