Default Can only receive some channels

I acquired a digibox ( sony) and did a DIY install of the cable to the
pre-existing dish on my house.

I could get all the channels you can get without a card until Nov.
I think the cable is degrading, and now I cant get BBC London, but can get
BBC oxford / SE/ Yorkshire.
I get a lot of the infomercial channels.

Theres no BBC 2,3,4 All I get is no sat. signal being received, which I
think is due to the cable. My sig. quality is 70%, and strength about 25-30%
The wire has a join in it.

I think that if I get some new cable put in, then I can get my box to show
all the FTA channels.

Someone also said that I can now get ITV, Ch4 and Ch5, without the yellow
house card. Does anyone know how?

Any sky installers in the Sheffield area got any cable spare??????

cheers

Probably unless it's the LNB or dish alignment. Cable is cheap enough to try
out.

You need a Free To View card. Just 20 GBP call 0870 606 1111 and ask for a card.

I hope its not an LNB prob. I have a spare sat, but installing it will be
hard!

Does anyone know a cheap source of cable in the Sheffield area. Can any sky
installers spare a bit of cable for beer money

cheers

If you can't easily find some locally then order from www.satcure.co.uk They
provide good service & sell by the metre. A 100m drum only cost me about 20 quid
a couple of years ago (of course I do still have about 60m still on the drum but
it's good value:-)

See
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...43950 96&rd=1
various bits for sale. I'm sure Bill can sort you out if what you want is
not listed.

Might I suggest that you doing the install is the cause of ALL your
problems?? :-)

Wickes sell satellite cable at about 18 UKP per 100m but not having had to
use it for more than about 15yds I leave others to comment on its quality.

BBC is Free To Air, you dont need a card for it, and even if you did, that
would have nothing to do with the fact the original poster is getting "no
sat signal recieved" message.

I quite agree that the BBC is FTA. However the question was asked about
receiving ITV,C4&C5 for which you need an FTV card. I provided the correct
answer. I also suggested that he try a new downlink cable. The OP is still
receiving some channels.

This morning looked at Quality of signal, 80%, signal strength 20%
I notice from time to time that the picture breaks up and your hear these
high pitch squeaks. Would you say this is an LNB problem.
The wire is joined at 3 different places, which used to work. I have a spare
dish with LNB.

Anyone in Sheffield got any sat. wire going v. cheap?

cheers
