Default new set-up connections help

I've just had delivery of Toshiba 36ZP48 TV and Toshiba DVD / HDD Recorder,
RD-XS32 and should much appreciate help with connections etc. (delivered
but unfortunately not installed by John Lewis)
The TV has 3 scart sockets
DVD recorder has 2 scarts
freeview box has 2 scarts
VCR has 2 scarts.
I have looked through various forums but I cannot find anything that applies
exactly to my equipment.
Please could you tell me what to plug in what and where. I am a complete
novice and the instruction manual uses terms I am not familiar with and is
not very clear.
Thanks very much.
Sally
If I've got the wrong forum I apologise but should be grateful for any
advice.
