Default Not paying for Sky Box Office

We are occassional purchasers of a Sky Box office movie and I sometimes will
buy a Premiership Plus match.
My wife asked me a few days ago about paying for these and whether they
added them to the normal direct debit. No, I said, they were billed
separately. Then I realised I hadn't seen anything on our bank statements
and upon checking discovered the last time we had payed for any box office
service was in April LAST YEAR!
Anybody else experienced this and got an explanation? The phone connection
isn't functioning (needs an adsl filter and I can't be bothered to move all
the furniture to get at the socket) but I don't think it has to be anyway.
Suspect they might catch up one day and empty my account!

If the phone connection isn't functioning then the digibox can't tell
$ky that you have watched Box Office movies, however, once your credit
on your $ky card has run out, you won't be able to watch any more Box
Office movies ever again until you get the phone connection fixed.
$ky DO charge for Box Office movies via the direct debit.
Regards Mike.

Thanks for the response!
What do you mean by Sky card credit?
Am I right in thinking that the usage is stored on the box/card then?

Correct...

The total cost of all your sky box office charges are held on your card.
There is also a credit limit in the card (an amount you can run up on box
office charges before the card wont let you view any more). Once this
credit limit is reached, your card won't let you book anymore box office
events until the card is allowed to phone home, to tell sky what you owe
them and reset the card. Have you any idea how many events you have watched
and not yet paid for, as I would be interested to know.... just for
interest.... Do you book events every week, month??

Thats how it works, so when you do finally get the box connected to the
working line, its pay up time. Its also worth noting that once your credit
limit is reached, it is widely reported that a constant reminder is
displayed on screen, even on your normal subscription channels, so watching
normal subs channels is no longer possible (this is never been confirmed by
myself, just something I've read online.. If anyone can confirm it would be
interesting to know).

Now how does one ensure that the chip is trashed.

Thanks for that! Actually I have no idea how many events we have watched. I
suppose a wild guess would reckon about 20 films and perhaps 3-5 football
matches. The crucial question now is how much credit is available on a card;
you would have thought it wasn't in Sky's interest to make it too high but
my bill has to be over £50. I think I may reconnect after Christmas!

Great!
Then what do I do when I'm told there is no more credit/space on the card?!

You'll never get to heaven!
Incidentally, why do people spell Sky $ky?

Simple. Don't support the PPV market. It's a rip-off anyway - the same
films are on the normal film channels a few months later, or available
cheaper for DVD rental with far superior picture and sound quality.

Well I can't argue with that, which is why it doesn't get used that much.
However, like a lot of things, when you would really like to use the service
it would be nice if it was available!
