My old Grundig 1500 has recently overheated and died.
Whilst in Tesco last night, I purchased a Phillips 1500. Seems to be decent enough, but one minor inconvenience is that, unlike with the Grundig, you are unable to maintain sound and vision of the channel you are watching, whilst scrolling through now and next info for the other channels. Too late now, but just for reference, which other boxes have the Grundig capability ?. Could it be something Phillips could perhaps amend with a software update ? Thanks |

The Techwood and Echostar boxes also do it, the Techwood in quarter screen (well its a Goodmans clone) and the Echostar overlays the screen. The Grundig GDT2000 (aka Thompson and Ferguson boxes) does quarter screen but changes the the damn channel as you scroll down the list! D'oh! |

Panasonic TUCT boxes show the channel you were on with the list overlayed on top of it; the channel doesn't change as you go up and down the list. -- Tim Mitchell |

Philip stated to myself that he (or she, he may have had 'the' operation in the past few weeks, but i'm not certain that that's the case, to be honest...) has no plans for updated software for the dtr1500... I understand your woe, but it is a good box apart from that! It modulates the signal coming into it or some nonsense, which helps with interference apparently. I'm an old codger, but i think it's something to do with RF pulses, or so i read on the philips website. Happy tv-ing |
