Thomson DHD4000 PVR available in Currys and Dixons from Monday

Looks like it wasn't "still in development" as reported, but will be in
Dixons and Currys from Monday (10th May). That's official from Thomson. I
guess this will beat the Fusion to the shops.

It'll be interesting to see the price as Unbeatable have it for £226.99,

I don't think I'd want to pay £300 as per the retail price. I suspect Dixons
and Currys will have it closer to £300.

I rang Unbeatable but they don't have an updated delivery date for stock to
reach them yet.

Yeah, a 7-day EPG would be useful, but if you can manually set timed
recordings, its omission is not so important. I'm really tempted by the
new Thomson box - from what I can make out, you can record two streams
to HD whilst watching a third. However, I couldn't see anything on the
Thomson website about the box when I looked a couple of days ago - I'd
like to d/l a manual to see what it can do. Then of course, there's the
'early adopter' syndrome. I'll wait and see what grumbles/problems
surface in this NG for a while before I buy.

I believe it uses GuidePlus+ (by GemStar) for EPG.

select your choices , but I don't buy one and am not about to start.
Its also not going to be as convenient as scrolling through a list of
channels and pressing a button to schedule the recording.

It does not have a DVD for archiving material though. I am personally not
buying anything till one does.
