Default parliament channel bbc sound fault

Hi,

Is it just my setup or is the sound on the Parliament channel subject to
a lot of distortion?

No problems here, BBC Parliament sounds fine, receiving the Winter Hill Tx.
Mike.

I haven't tried it today, but... I've always noticed it to be very quiet
compared to other channels. On Friday I happened to have the Dolby surround
switched on, and whatever they were doing to the sound feed was causing it
to come mostly from the rear speakers! (So left + right are out of phase?)

Just tried it on Freeview, and it sounds OK, much the same as everything
else, to me on a fairly grotty TV.

I suspect it might be problems in the source taken from the
microphone/amplifier installation in the House (or wherever), particularly
as the Parliament channel broadcasts more debates with back-benchers who are
perhaps further from the microphones. The main news broadcasts concentrate
on the PM and the Leader of the Opposition, who are more closely
microphoned, so the problems may be less obvious on other channels.

I've noticed a marked background hum on broadcasts from the Welsh Assembly,
and considerable over-sibilance of the interpreter when proceedings are in
Welsh, suggesting microphone problems again.

It was the debate about Equitable Life yesterday, it sound like it was
beeing clipped by the ADC, ie when it was slightly quieter it was fine.
