So you would be happy for thousands of people to post test messages to
this group? I guess putting please ignore makes it okay. You are as
dumb as the OP.

Gee, not everyone has as reliable ISP as you and from time to time they
either do not post up posts to groups, or alternatively do not download new
posts. As a sucker with BTO I can sympathise, and whilst a test group might
be OK for some tests, if you want to know whether the reason your stuff is
not appearing in or from your favouritre group is a problem with your own
ISP or elsewhere the easiest way is to send a test post.

IMHO the original poster may be dumb, but you are ignorant

To be perfectly honest with you, as long as they said "TEST MESSAGE ; PLEASE
IGNORE", I wouldn't give a flying ****. I IGNORE them, which was basically
what I was saying in my original post, but of course, I have repeat it
because of ignorant ****wits like you (who read messages that say "Please
ignore" !). As this was ONE (that's 1, which is much, much less than
"thousands") post that was a test message, I am simply not prepared to let
it upset me. You are as thick as the VK.

.....and this speaks volumes about you.................

I was dead against allowing such a powerful device, the personal computer,
into the hands of the unwashed. "No good will come of it", I said......

I posted two messages within 5 minutes of each other, to separate groups -
this one and uk.rec.gardening. The message here didn't appear for quite
some time (at least 15 minutes) but the message to the other group

appeared
instantly. That is why the test message posted, and this also why my
posting says "apologies, had trouble posting".

Not much help I'm afraid. I had *exactly* this problem, with different
groups, and I also couldn't send e-mail to 1 particular domain, which
unfortunately, was my employer. It was One-Tel, and as no resolution was
forthcoming, I walked......

I used to post these messages, but never got reply postings from imbeciles
complaininhg about it ; too many people with computers now.

Never did know the reason for the anomalies.....

It might be that the postings go by different paths. Usenet isn't direct
point-to-point; let's say you send two postings, one to alt.this and one
to alt.that. You have two downstream servers, A and B. A supports
alt.this (and not alt.that) and B supports alt.that (and not alt.this).
So your posting will already go two ways - one via A and one via B. Of
course, all of the downstream servers for A and B might *themselves* not
take both groups, so you end up with postings wandering vaguely about
the Net via interesting routes.

Take a look at the Path: headers to see what tortuous route your posting
took between the fount of wisdon who wrote it and you.

fu set to poster as this is horribly OT for this group!
