Default Optical Audio Out on Pace Twin

Just out of curiosity, I took the optical audio lead, which feeds the
Theatre Sound Amplifier, from my DVD player, and plugged it into the rear
optical out socket on my Pace Twin. I wanted to see if it improved the
sound. I couldn't get it to work. There was no output from the Audio
Amplifier. I can see a red light output from the Pace Twin. I cannot find
any reference to configuring the audio out to optical in the Pace
instruction booklet, am I missing something, or have I got a faulty Pace
Twin? Anyone help me with this one please?

Tony,
I've got mine to work with my home cinema amp. The output is PCM digital, 48
kHz and is independent of the pace volume control.
