RF Connections

My friend got a dvd for xmas but his tv has only 2 scart sockets so we
connected his old on digital box through rf and tuned the tv to a new
channel, problem is we only get picture not sound. If we run it through a rf
channel on the vcr we get sound and picture through the scart lead but not
through rf, yet the tv gets sound and picture on the normal channels though
the aerial. It's got us totally baffled, can any one help

It must be an RF output from the VCR interfering with the STB channel.
To prove this temporarily connect the RF lead direct from the STB to the TV
missing out the VCR and see if you get sound.

To correct it turn off the VCR RF output or change it to a different
channel.
Although I would daisy chain the VCR - STB - TV by using Scart (all Ondodgy
boxes have a VCR scart socket).

We can't daisy chain via scart as his vcr has only 1 scart socket. We have
tried STB direct to TV on RF and get picture no sound, tried VCR direct to
TV on RF again picture no sound. Puzzled!! we are

Stick the VCR on the end of the chain then:-

Not quite right as TV's normally only have RGB on scart 1
