Default Nebula DigiTV - Live rewind & software updates

Hi everyone and Happy Christmas,

I've just got a Nebula DigiTV PCI card and am wondering about a live rewind
feature. I read somewhere in an archeived newsgroup thread that the feature
was going to be added soon, but I can't find it mentioned anywhere else.
Does anyone with 'inside information' know if it's likely to appear soon
please?

Also, I'm having a problem with updating the software. When you click the
'update' button in the settings, it starts to download the file and then
crashes (Windows XP). Then the DigiTV software won't load at all until I
manually download it from Nebula and re-install it. However, that version
isn't as recent as the update feature seems to think. Any ideas on this
please?

Thanks,
Geoff.

Try e-mailing nebula support, address on their site. They are usually very
helpful. This sounds like a good potential feature but would have to be
limited by hard disk space used.

Try uninstalling the software then install the latest version from their
site... Then when you start the app you should be able to autoupdate to a
version with a few bug fixes and new features (namely logo removal).

Merry Christmas!!!

If you download the version 3.10 file from the website
(http://www.nebepg.co.uk/Downloads/DigiTV3_10.exe), you'll find that has the
live rewind function (although it is a bit jerky).

That's what I've installed, and if you click the update buttonm it says
already up to date.

HTH!

Thanks for your replies. I had already tried downloading the 'latest'
version from their site but it still crashed when I tried to get the REAL
latest version.

I'll try the 'real' latest version at the address you gave me though.

Thanks very much for your help guys.

Geoff.

Hi Peter. I've just realised that the link you gave is for the version I
already downloaded. It shows up as V3.104 on the site and there is no live
rewind feature. However, when I try to update the software from within the
program it says that version 3.105 is the latest, yet it refuses to download
it fully without crashing. This is odd. It's as if I'm getting old files
from a proxy server or something, but that isn't the case, and I'm not
behind a transparent proxy either (in case someone wondered). I wonder
if they've just taken the download off today or something due to a problem
with it?

I'd like to try the automatic update again but I've had to re-install the
software 3 times now so it's a bit of a pain to have to keep doing that.

I do love the card though!

Geoff.

I have 3.105 and no sign of a *live* re-wind feature. There is a rewind
feature on recordings though.

That's odd. Well I've just tried updating again, and yet again it's crashed
half way through and I'll have to re-install the latest version.

I can't find where to download beta versions from by the way-Does anyone
have a link to the index page for beta downloads please? I can't see it
mentioned on their site at all, but I know you used to be able to get to
them.

Cheers,
Geoff.

AFAIK, the beta versions are not available to download once it's released.
3.105 is the latest version, i'd expect a new one in the new year - their
website would suggest that they are currently enjoying the xmas break, and

I
think it's well earned don't you think!

That explains why I can't find the beta's page then. Yep, I agree it seems
that they deserve the break. I've only just got my card today but I've been
reading a lot about the company and they seem very good and are constantly
updating their software. I just wish I could download the latest version,
but I still can't without it crashing. Boo hoo.

Well I've been able to download the latest version now, and there is no live
rewind feature so I'm not sure what that was all about?

I'm actually pretty annoyed with this software. I've spent hours today
uninstalling and reinstalling it due to all sorts of problems with it
crashing. Whenever there is a slight problem with either downloading an
update or EPG data (and there have been problems with both those all day),
it just freezes up and you have to cntl-alt-del and re-load it. Also quite
often it's crashed when using the live pause feature for no apparent reason.

Has anyone else had such problems with this software please? Should I
downgrade to an older version maybe?

Cheers,
Geoff.

Yes, it seems I have 3.105 as well. If you give me your e-mail address,
I'll send you the executable - I think that's the only thing that changed -
one of the intermediate beta upgrades was only a .exe change. Copy it ontop
of what you already have.

You'll need to e-mail me at peter(at)petersheppard(dot)com (replace (at)
with @ and (dot) with . ).
