Default Does the Scart socket on a TV have any outputs?

The scart socket on a TV is usually used for input of signals (say DVD to
TV)

Does the socket also have outputs? i.e would the socket produce audio out
for connection to a hifi?

It all depends on the TV as to whether an audio out signal is present
or not.

Almost always , yes.
If it has more than one scart socket though its usually only the first that
has an output.

There's allegedly an EU requirement that the first SCART must always output
the signal from the TV tuner. I just don't have a reference - interested to
know it if anyone has it?

This is why TVs with SmartLink, CinemaLink, etc tend to put it on their
second or third SCART, because at times the TV needs to output other signals
(e.g. camcorder input) down the SCART to the VCR for recording; this would
mean it breaks the above rule.

Probably something to do with using analogue descramblers - bound to be
something to do with the French!!!

Remember this goes back to the 1980s!!

You are right, although the output on my Philips second SCART was
configurable, however completely unmentioned in the manual the [last]
channel tuned does indeed come out on SCART 1!

That's a bit sweeping. I generally find them easy to get on with.
However, Parisians are another matter, but they are probably cheesed off
with all the tourists cluttering up their nice city.
