Default Belmont unwatchable last night

It's probably the weather, but around 10pm last night the signal from
Belmont became almost totally unwatchable in Hull, both analogue (very
snowy, wavery rolling pictures) and digital (normally 90% signal, box
reporting no signal). Curiously the only channel which was still
watchable on both analogue and digital was C5, which is normally the
worst quality.

I gave up and went to read a book. I haven't checked what it's like this
morning.

Probably interference from continental stations due to high pressure, poss.
tropospheric ducting.
Cu wait until pressure drops.
Mike.

It wasn't the normal "banding" and interference you get with high
pressure, more like a loss of signal, as if the tx was on very reduced
power. Unless the signal from Belmont was being tropospherically ducted
to the continent and none of it was coming my way.

If you are in Hull your Belmont aerial is pointing at Crystal Palace. CP DTT is
on four Belmont analogue channels, so that's why your analogue is going snowy.

Yep Belmont was a bag of bobbins from sheffield. I was getting reception of
more than one channel on each frequency.

Does that mean people to the south of London using CP are being
afflicted with Look North?

It would be pearls before swine . . .
